CURTIS COLLINS
Broadway meets Hollywood, Beverly and Curtis are equally acclaimed as awe-inspiring dancers, visionary choreographers, and world-class teachers. On Broadway, Beverly was featured in the original cast of Swing!, as well as the first run of Forever Tango, and subsequent World Tour. In Hollywood, Curtis can be seen in Disney’s Enchanted, and he was instrumental in coaching actors for the feature film Shall We Dance. Together, they have graced venues worldwide, sharing the stage with such headliners as Placido Domingo and Natalie Cole in Los Angeles, Harry Connick, Jr. in Las Vegas, the Tony Awards and Macy’s Parade in New York City, and for that matter, on every continent! Most recently, they have dedicated their passion for partner dancing to the high seas: performing, producing and teaching on the world’s most awarded luxury cruise line, Crystal Cruises, where they have just completed their 19th world cruise! Beverly comes from a background solid in Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Modern, and Curtis comes from an environment rich in Music, both Vocal and Instrumental, and Musical Theatre. Award-winning competitors on the dance floor, they both specialize in almost every partner dance imaginable, from Argentine tango to swing, to the ballroom and latin world of dancesport, to the street styles of salsa. When it comes to partnering, Beverly has discovered that she loves to be tossed and twirled in the air, and Curtis has been described as "impeccably comfortable with space, like Fred Astaire”. The collaboration of their talents onstage is always an exhilarating experience: the drama, the comedy, the romance, and the thrills! Whether out to sea, as the most exciting dance team on the high seas!, or on land, as the Dynamic Dance Duo!, their Broadway meets Hollywood story continues, and Beverly and Curtis look forward to bringing their distinctive brand of Dance Artistry to you! |
BEVERLY
Beverly soars as one of the most versatile and expressive partner dancers on the world’s stage. Her brilliant style and professionalism earned her featured roles in the Broadway hits, Swing! and Forever Tango, as well as a featured performance on the Tony Awards. She has won the prestigious Joseph Jefferson Award for Best Choreography for Swing! and The All Night Strut, and has co-choreographed numerous productions of Swing!. Beverly has been featured on stages and television specials around the globe. Her love of roller coasters and thrill rides translates easily to a daring and athletic style of dancing that will take your breath away. When she takes the stage with her partner, she leaves the audience nothing short of awed. A traditionally trained dancer, Beverly fell in love with partnering, first with West Coast Swing and then Argentine Tango. An expert in lifts and aerials, Beverly is equally proficient in Ballroom, Latin, and a wide variety of additional dance styles. She especially enjoys collaborating with her amazing partners on choreographies that tell a story. Her performances can tug at your heartstrings, give you goose bumps, have you gasping in excitement, and roaring with laughter. Beverly is featured regularly in theatrical productions and dance events around the world, and enjoys teaching and judging as well. She often performs as a guest entertainer aboard the world’s leading cruise line, Crystal Cruises. She is grateful for the years she lived abroad, and all across the United States. She has a deep love for diverse cultures and people. But if she had to choose just one place to call home, she’d probably pick two – she’s equally at home in New York City and the Los Angeles area. That’s where you’re most likely to find her when she’s rehearsing for the next show. |
TERESA SHIRY
Teresa Shiry’s dancing career started unassumingly at the Dance & Creativity Center in Redondo Beach, CA. After only a few months, she caught “the dance bug” and quickly graduated to the prestigious Stanley Holden Ballet Academy in Los Angeles for advanced training. Teresa’s love of all things dance was unstoppable. It was during her daily studies in Ballet, Jazz and Tap that she discovered Ballroom dancing. The rest is history - 11 years and 7 partners later, Teresa won the United States National Championship in the American Smooth division. This entitled her to represent the United States in the World Showdance Finals in Bonn, Germany where she and her partner scored a 7th place finish. Teresa currently teaches Ballroom, Swing and Latin dancing in the Coachella Valley – Private Instruction, Pro/Am Competitive Ballroom, and regular Adult (Social Dance) classes with her husband, Ken. She is a certified Examiner and Judge in all forms of Ballroom and Latin dancing. Her extensive dance training and personal elegance is well received in both Cotillion classes and (most recently) Debutante Ball programs taught alongside her husband in Los Angeles. |
SARA ROSE
Sara began her dance training at the age of 14, training in Classical Ballet. After spending 4 years training in Ballet, Jazz, African, and Modern dance, and Kenpo Karate, Sara discovered Argentine Tango and began studying in 1996, studying with every local visiting instructor and she also attended Tango week in Stanford. In 1998 Sara began teaching Ballroom dance and began a successful career teaching performing, choreographing and training teachers in Ballroom dance. Countless hours of study took her through all of the 19 styles of ballroom as well as every peripheral branch of social and competitive partner dance. She also continued to educate herself in contemporary ballet, modern, flamenco, tap and other studies. In 2000 Sara began teaching yoga and this became her primary teaching focus. She studied with Ana Forrest in 2000 and has taught this style of yoga all over the world, both assisting Ana in teacher training through the US and Europe and on her own tour. Through working with Ana, Sara gained extensive wisdom in seeing, and helping people free the places they are blocked. In 2005 she started spending 3-9 months a year in Buenos Aires studying with every teacher she could: Julio Balmaceda and Corina De la Rosa, Jorge Dispari, Dani Flaco, Gustavo Naviera and Giselle, Jorge DiSpari, Facundo Gil, Eugenia Parilla and Yanick Wyler, Javier Rodriguez and countless others . Sara worked with one of the world’s most revered tango dancers, Pablo Veron for over 5 years on his methodology. His work is truly profound and the education that she received from this experience is unparalleled. The work entailed creating an organization to manage over 700 elements of tango, in addition to the innumerable combinations of these. |
