ARTIST BIOS

Julio Balmaceda
Julio learned his first Tango steps from his father, the legendary Miguel Balmaceda, and for many years he accompanied and assisted him in tango practices. After his fathers death in 1991, Julio took over the classes at the most prestigious Tango schools in Buenos Aires. Nowadays, Julio has the honor of being considered one of the youngest milongueros in Buenos Aires. He is well known worldwide, as well as in Argentina, due to his naturalness, quality, and the musicality that make his dance and his walk a synonym of Tango. In 1993, together with Omar Viola, he opened the Parakultural. In 1995, he was invited to participate in the Film Evita by Alan Parker.

Virginia Vasconi
Originally from Cordoba, Argentina, Virginia is a Jazz dance teacher, proficient in Latin rhythms, stretching, classical ballet and contemporary dance. She moved to Buenos Aires in 2008 to study Tango. There, she immediately became a member of the famous DNI Dance Company and School directed by Dana Frígoli. She has performed in the most prominent Milongas of Buenos Aires including Villa Malcom, Salon Canning, Club Gricel, La Viruta, La Baldosa, and Centro Cultural Konex. Along with the DNI Dance Company, she performed in prestigious theaters such as Alvear, Maipo, Margarita Xirgu, Velma Cafe, ND Ateneo, Caff and El Cubo, and she has participated in many festivals throughout the world. Currently, she teaches Tango and performs in different cities of Europe, Canada, USA, Oceania, and Asia. She and Julio Balmaceda have created a unique style recognized for their interpretation of the music and their dynamic. They combine elegance with technique, elasticity with strength; the perfect ingredients for beautiful, passionate and talented Tango.

Albano Goldenberg
Originally from the province of Mendoza, I inherited my love of Tango from my grandparents. At 18, I began to study tango, classical and contemporary dance and theatre. I organized several milongas in Mendoza and San Luis and I directed, choreographed and danced in various Tango shows, including Tangoneón, with the renounced bandoneon player Juan Pablo Jofré Romarion, and NN Tango. I went on tour to Bolivia in 2006 with María Eugenia Gómez and the Tangastor quintet, in 2007, I participated as a contemporary dancer in the National Vendimia Festival, and in 2008, I traveled to Chile as an invited teacher and dancer in the Valparatango festival. I moved to Buenos Aires in 2008 to perfect my dancing. There, I had the opportunity to study with distinguished maestros such as Carlos Gavito, Sabrina and Rubén Veliz, Guillermina Quiroga, el Pibe Avellaneda, Gustavo Naveira and Giselle Anne, Julio Balmaceda and Corina de la Rosa, Mariano Chicho Frúmboli and Juana Sepúlveda, and Pablo Verón. I have also worked as a teacher in the Escuela Carlos Copello, Julio Balmaceda and Corina de la Rosas Zarasa Studio and the Argentine branch of Pepperdine University. In 2012, I went on my first European tour, giving intensive workshops and performing in France, Germany and Switzerland. I am also the co-organizer and teacher in the Milonga Antimufa and in October and November 2014 I toured Canada. In 2015, I participated as a dancer of 24M under the Cambalache festival and also perfomed in the Tango Show Añoranzas for the 2015 season.


Sara Rose
Sara Rose has been studying movement for over 25 years, Classical, Yoga, Jazz, Tango, Ballroom, Latin, and Karate. She began her Gyrotonic studies about 6 years ago and has been a certified teacher for two years including certification in Jumping Stretching Board and Applications for Dancers. Sara has taught Yoga for 16 years and traveled and taught around the world independently and with her guru Ana Forrest. Tango is the center of her movement work, and Sara has had the pleasure of working with world renowned artists such as Pablo Veron, Julio Balmaceda, Guillermo de Fazio, Enzo Hoces Montes, and Albano Goldenberg. As well as organizing workshops for world class artists, she also takes students to share her decade of experience teaching and living in Buenos Aires. Sara loves sharing the the joy of movement and guiding students on the easiest route to freedom, creativity, and refinement in Tango. Sara has lived intermittently and studied intensively in Buenos Aires over the last decade. She has toured in Europe, Canada, and the US for Yoga and Tango.
