"It will be a long time before I have an opinion about the class other than it’s something I do on a regular basis and I benefit from it every time."
-Daniel

"After 4 years of back pain that interfered with many activities - I had a successful, pain-free bike ride yesterday - so glad Gyrokinesis is part of my weekly regimen. Still a ways to go, but feel on the right path to recovery!"
-Sari

"Sara Rose’s online Gyrokenesis classes have become a central part of my home quarantine ritual."
-Jan

In little over a month, I have more flexibility and ease of movement than I’ve ever had, since being a kid."
-Ward Serrill, Filmmaker and dancer

"Often I come to class in a bit of pain yet leave class without!!
It’s a miracle (no, it’s Sara’s class).
These classes are invaluable to me and give me great hope.
I thought I would have to just get old and endure the pain"
-Nina

"I’ve notices some functional benefits that go beyond class - more balance to put on clothes, able to withstand the gravity while I’m at the computer.
All good things."
-Sari

"Sara Rose has helped me discover a newfound fluidity throughout my body.
My spine is more supple now than it was ten years ago."
-Ward Serrill, Filmmaker and dancer

"I started out with lots of pain this morning, and the class today was exceptionally helpful.
I feel good and more enthusiastic about moving on to the rest of my day."
-Sari

"I feel like my spine has some space that it didn’t have before the class.
Yes, was a little awkward but I think it’s what I need. You work the body in a way I’ve never thought of. it’s brilliant and I’m excited to participate."
-Nina

"Before the coronavirus slammed into us,
I had thought I knew how to manage my body with the help of regular massage, PT, osteopathy, Hellerwork, etc. What I discovered after lockdown was how dependent I was on all those outside props.
I began to feel like I was in a battle with my body, which was trying to fill my life with physical pain, and that in turn was affecting me emotionally.  But then, thanks to the encouragement of a close friend, I started Sara Rose's gyrokinesis classes online.
After just three or four classes,
not only have the exercises in class and between classes eliminated almost all the pain, but with my new understanding of the marvelous orchestra that the body is, I'm finding that I'm using my newgyrokinesisways of moving to empty the dishwasher, reach down into deep cupboards for pots and pans, reach up to top shelves for ingredients, bike, take walks, play piano, sit at my computer for research and writing stints, engage in conversation with my husband, and settle in for an episode of whatever series we're watching.
Joy has returned!!
I'm praying that Sara's online classes can continue even after we get the virus under better control."
-Beverly

"Thank you a great class today! Arching has long been a mysterious and scary thing for me and today gave me hope that it can become an enjoyable and safe movement."
-Julie

"Third time and getting addicted!"

"You're unlocking the mysteries of my body"
-Tracy

"I wish I had met you 40 years ago!"
- Nancy

"...sitting without fidgeting from discomfort in front of computer. This is a come-to-Jesus type awakening. My body is buzzing."
-Yvonne

"Sara Rose is amazing.
She suggested that I try gyrotonics during a walking class as a way to help my posture.
It didn’t take long to see results in my core strength and balance along with my posture. Over the past few months I’ve discovered muscles in my torso I had never met before.
Then I joined her sessions working on hips, knees and ankles and I’ve seen superb results in alignment in my legs and balanced use of my muscles. She takes great care to meet the needs of her clients and is engaged in everyone’s progress.
I highly recommend her!" - Dawn

"So I wanted to report something else that's changed in the last few weeks... I've been doing the stick thing daily and repositioning my hips/sacrum/head as often as I can. My reminder cue is when I notice weight in my knees and balls of my feet, and I'm becoming much more aware of that.
It still feels really weird and wrongish to be aligned correctly, but it's already surprising how much more mobility I have in my knees! Equally remarkable, my bunions on both feet are getting smaller. I know that at this point it's probably not a reduction in boney material, but I certainly have less swelling. So thank you again, I'm excited to see where this goes next!"
-Gabrielle

" After the Gyrokinesis workout, I woke up with joints and muscles that were as limber as when I went to sleep. There was none of the morning stiffness that follows the other types of workouts I usually do. Sara knows exactly how to tailor these Gyrokinesis workouts to best benefit dancers, especially dancers of Argentine Tango. I look forward to continuing with her instructional classes, and plan to incorporate Gyrokinesis movements into my daily plan for promoting optimal health and flexibility."
-Ingrid

"The Gyrotonic Boot Camp was amazing! Half way through day one, I experienced a new found sense of my body as an awakened instrument, filled with capabilities and possibilities. Sara's technical knowledge, keen observations/insights, and humor made the experience both educational and fun. Unparalleled instruction. Run don't walk to Sara's classes! She is a treasure."
-Ione T.

"I am normally very active and do a lot of yoga. I recently went on a regular trip to BsAs but prior to leaving, I had some problems with my right shoulder and right lower back. As I dance tango every day when I'm in BsAs, this was very distressing. A friend referred me to Sara to try out gyrotonic and I was ready to try anything. It was a great experience! Very gentle process but I noticed a huge improvement in my shoulder and the release of stress in my lower back right away. I also felt that it improved my body alignment in general. I went regularly through my trip and survived all the dancing without trouble. Gyrotonic  was also very complimentary with my tango lessons as they both require good body awareness and Sara was excellent at guiding me through the movements and coaching me into better awareness of how I use my body. I wish gyrotonic were more available where I live and I look forward to doing it again on my next trip. "
-Joanna, Canada

"When I went to Buenos Aires this spring, a tango teacher who I randomly met on the airport recommended that I try Gyrotonic. He said it would be good for my tango. I took classes for Sara my last three weeks and I regret not starting earlier. My body absolutely loved this way of movement and I would have loved to do it every day! It helped me to get the feeling of healthier patterns of movement. After only the first time I felt a difference in my right foot that I have had problems with. Sara and I started to build up a sound vocabulary of movement for my body. Sara is a great instructor who I felt understood my personal needs and who quickly saw and understood the blockages and bad habits my body has gotten accustomed with over the years. She has a great understanding of the connection in the body and a great way of explaining it and suggesting changes. For me Gyrotonic is a great form of exercise since it feels like a perfect combination of fluidity and strength training with elements of yogic awareness. I can highly recommend this method and Sara as an instructor. She is dedicated, competent and has a great understanding of the human body, movements and health in general!! Thank you Sara!!!!"
-Kristina, Sweden

"Gyrotonic is changing my body and life! I've had chronic pain in my SI joints due to a congenital defect. I've tried every therapy possible but it was gyrotonics that got me out of pain, increased my body awareness, and improved my Argentine Tango dancing. I liken gyro to Pilates but with 100% more attention to structural detail, core, intelligent movement, and balance. It's a unique and holistic approach to movement that increases joint health and mobility to help me age more gracefully without pain and degeneration. As a healthcare provider and tango dancer I can't recommend gyrotonics enough and The Changing Room gyro studio is superb! Sara has brilliantly helped me reeducate my body and changed my life.Thank you for patiently working with me as I connected to the deeper aspects of my compensatory movement patterns and relearned the important basics."
❤- Kristin

"Sara will change your life for the better.

I have seen over 12 different doctors including several orthopedic specialists and chiropractors, a pain specialist, an osteopath, a physiatrist, as well as different physical therapists over the past 3 years to address my pain issues. The pain I experience has negatively impacted my life in many ways, not the least of which is that it prevents me from sleeping.

I felt a significant improvement after taking my first Gyrotonics session with Sara.   After 2 weeks, I was sleeping again! I wish I had started working with her sooner. Sara's directness, and fearless attitude in dealing with me was refreshing and inspired me to trust her.  So many of my medical appointments were discouraging. One physical therapist I met took one look at my knee and told me that there was really nothing she could do for me. Sara, on the other hand, was not intimidated at all by my injuries. She got to work, and as a result I am moving better than I thought possible.

She is enthusiastic and kind and has given me the priceless gift of hope that I will be able to dance and ski and surf and hike again.

Let her guide you to a happier life.  Do not miss this opportunity to meet and study with the extraordinary woman

You will so happy you did."

"My partner and I went to Sara Rose’s Argentine Tango Foundation bootcamp and absolutely loved it. We learned so much about the essence of the dance, in a well structured and very accessible manner. Sara is a superb teacher, building skills from natural movements. She helped us experience what deep connection means in Tango, as well as acquire the core aspects of the dance. As someone who is fairly new to Tango, I feel very fortunate to have access to her teaching right here in Hawaii!  I am looking forward to learning more from her!"

A friend of mine told me about a boot camp for tango going over fundamentals of circular turns. Needless to say I was excited to go learn and improve on my tango and movement. I learned so much and in a way that is very different than any other studio or lessons I have gone to. As an exercise enthusiast I enjoyed the break down of movement anatomically which made plenty of sense to me. I also enjoyed dancing and learning to feel the movement. Your body will know what is right and feels right. Best workshop i have gone to. It has refreshed my drive to continue to learn and advance through this wonderful dance. Thank you Sara and aides for showing me and my date such a great learning experience.Dear Sarah, thank you so much for an amazing experience during last 2 weeks in Anchorage. These Tango classes helped me better understand myself, awareness of my body and how it evolves and moves with music and partner. Your pre-Tango exercises are helping with ease of movement. I liked how you engage individuals and partners in conversation during the class, that makes the one think. I definitely feel difference in my tango dance and dance of partners after your classes. Thank you for sharing your experience and enthusiasm with us.-Joseph

Sara is an incredibly thoughtful teacher. Her methodology/pedagogy and curriculum are very well laid out. As a teacher myself (in a completely different field) i can see and appreciate the years it took her to refine the content into digestible chunks- no easy feat! The bootcamp really gave me tools to utilize on the dance floor right away (especially as a new lead/in the masculine role). The way she breaks down the material creates infinite possibilities without steps to remember. As a follower/female, more nuanced feedback she gave me will be things i will chew on in months to come because they are a lot more subtle and deep for me to assimilate in my body (since they are about the quality of the movement in relation to my spine). I like having these general goals to work towards over time as i can pay attention to these new ideas every time i am on the dance floor. Her delightful personality is an added bonus. I look forward to learning more from her.

Thank you so much for your wonderful classes in Alaska. I learned so much, and as I said, it was very helpful for my recovery. I LOVE instructors that focus on movement and “natural” movement. Now, the challenge is to implement that in my own dancing and life. I’ve been working hard to get my body to function again. It’s been a rough road and dance can help to smooth that out.

You pointed out many things that I am familiar with as they are intrinsic habits and structures in my body. These same issues are part of my knee and body rehab. Dancing, skiing, climbing, walking down the road, it’s all the same. Your tips are super helpful and I love having something to focus on.

It’s always been a struggle for me to follow leads that “make” me do things and have form that doesn’t work for me. I am going to try to not let that happen and be in my axis even with leaders that want otherwise and dance my dance and see what happens. I just hope they understand!

I hope I get to learn and dance from you again. I wish I could come down in June but I will be camping with Grizzlies for a week! I’m trying to get really skinny and fast before then! ;-)

Just wanted to let you know how much you have helped! To think I was going to spend the weekend climbing and skiing in the mountains!

Besos,

Galen

"Sara Thomsen is a gifted dancer without parallel but her talent transcends form and technique and a deep and passionate understanding of tango. With her touch, voice and embracing glance, she is able to gently but purposefully  "disarm" her student and make him or her begin to feel the music and acquire the confidence to execute with grace and style the intricate steps of this dance.

Sara has the innate ability to communicate on any level. It is only a matter of minutes not sessions that she will begin to transform her student and achieve measurable results/improvement. Best of all,  a tango lesson with Sara at whatever level will be stimulating, rewarding, and intoxicating, to say the least."
