About Yanick Wyler
|
Yanick grew up in Switzerland. His first passions were rock climbing, dancing ballroom and hip hop, playing music and Lego. He studied cabinet making (which was not enough) and then proceeded to study industrial design (which was a bit too much). So one spring day he fell in love, first with a tango-girl; then with tango dancing; then with Buenos Aires night life and another tango-girl. Here followed hours of studying. Meticulous and fun, impatient and obsessive, confusing and euphoric. For years. With many of the greatest masters. Eventually he ran out of money, so he leapt into a tango career. At the same time he became certified in Gyrotonic, built a kitchen, made a short movie and fell deeper in love with Eugenia.
Yanick is a contemporary kind of tango dancer, but connects to the old school tango essence and culture. He likes the cool dynamic stuff. and the smooth yet energetic stuff. and the precise technical stuff. And all this comes with a distinct musical sensibility and a persistent passion for movement and teaching and all things pink. |

We will miss dear Eugenia this year as she is occupied with her Gyrotonic school in Buenos Aires and Yanick & Eugenia's son Amadeo is now more consistently in school in Buenos Aires. We hope she can return to Seattle very soon!
